Breakfast is a very important part of an individual’s routine meal.

One should never miss their breakfast because it can give birth to many unnecessary diseases in your body.

Khaman is sold in almost every street of Gujarat. And not only in Gujarat it is very popular in other states also.

It is a soft and fluffy steamed snack. It has a beautiful texture and a very good flavour.

This all time favourite snack is enjoyed as a starter, for breakfast or as a tea snack. Basically, it is something you can have any time of the day.

So here i am sharing with you an easy breakfast recipe i.e Khaman.

And, if you are still thinking that whether it is a healthy snack or not then here is the answer

So the answer is both “YES” and “NO” depend on who is having it.

Khaman is a popular Gujarati snack made from gram(besan) flour.
This simple Indian snack is loved by all age group people.
It is very easy to make this recipe.
You can make this healthy breakfast for your family and enjoy it with hot tea or coffee.
And You can also make this for your children's tiffin.

Ingredients
  

FOR BATTER

  • cup Besan / GramFlour
  • 3 tbsp Rava / Semolina / Suji, Fine
  • ½ tbsp Ginger Paste
  • 2 Chilli Finely Chopped
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Pinch Hing / Asafoetida
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbps Oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • ½ tsp Eno Fruit Salt

FOR TEMPERING

  • 3 tsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Mustard
  • ½ tsp Cumin / Jeera
  • 1 tsp Sesame / Til
  • Pinch Hing / Asafoetida
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • 2 Chilli, Slit
  • ¼ cup Water
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice

FOR GARNISHING

  • 2 tbsp Coconut, Grated
  • 2 tbps Coriander Finely Chopped

Instructions
 

  • First, take a bowl and mix 1 ½ cup of besan and 3 tbsp of rava.
  • Add ½ tsp of ginger paste, 2 chilli paste, ¼ spoon turmeric powder, 1 tsp sugar, pinch of hing, 1 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice.
  • Now, mix all and make a smooth batter by adding 1 cup of water and more if required.
  • Take a dhokla/khaman plate and apply some oil inside the plate.
  • Take an eno packet and add ½ tsp of it to the batter and mix well.
  • Now, immediately pour the batter inside the dhokla plate and keep the plate inside the idle cooker or vessel for 20 minutes.
  • After the khaman cooks completely take the khaman plate out and let them cool for 5 minutes.
  • Now, cut them in square shape with the help of a knife.
  • Now, heat 1 tbsp oil in a small pan and add ½ sp mustard and curry leaves to it and let the mustard cook properly.
  • Now, garnish the khaman with 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves, mustard we prepared and sev (Namkeen).
  • And, your khamans are ready to serve. Serve hot with green chutney.

An individual gets 81 calories from one piece of khaman.

Of which 18 calories from fat, 14 account for protein and remaining 48 from carbohydrates.

One piece of khaman is equal to 4% of the daily total diet requirement of adults.

And, the standard requirement of an adult is 2000 calories.
