Everyone’s day starts with breakfast. And, many times i have observed that most of the time housewives remain confused with one question i.e what to make for breakfast?

Because kids get bored with the same routine breakfast items like poha, upma,parathas etc. they always demand something new.

So don’t worry here is a new breakfast recipe for you all. Many of you must have eaten upma. But, how many of you have tried bread upma?

If yes then you must be knowing that this recipe is so yummy and easy.

But, if not then you should try this out. This is a super easy recipe and tasty too.

Till i was in college i had never heard of any recipe like this. Actually, one day one of my friends brought this bread upma in her tiffin and I was like this is something new. Then, i tried it and it was really very good.

After that I took the recipe from her and tried making it. And, turned out really awesome and the family also loved it a lot.

After that day this bread upma recipe also got added to our breakfast menu.

You can also try this recipe with the leftover bread, in case after making sandwiches some bread is left.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 slices Bread White / Wholemeal
  • 3 tsp oil
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds / Rai
  • Few Curry Leaves / Kadi Patta
  • ½ Medium sized Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1 Green chilli Slit lengthwise
  • ½ tsp Ginger Paste / Adrak Paste
  • 2 Medium size Tomatoes Finely Chopped
  • ½ tsp Turmeric / Haldi
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder / Lal Mirch Powder
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ Small size Capsicum Finely Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Water if required
  • 3 tbps Coriander Leaves Finely Chopped

Instructions
 

  • First, cut the bread slices into square shapes and keep aside.
  • Take a pan and heat 2 tbsp oil in it.
  • Add mustard seeds and curry leaves to the oil.
  • Wait till the mustard seeds splutter.
  • Further, add finely chopped onion, ginger paste and green chilli to the oil.
  • Let the onion cook till it turns brownish.
  • Now, add finely chopped tomatoes and saute well.
  • Let it cook till the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
  • Now, add spices like turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt as per taste.
  • Let it cook for a minute on low flame.
  • Now add finely chopped capsicum and let it cook well.
  • After the veggies are cooked properly add 2tbsp of water and mix well.
  • Now, it’s time to add our bread pieces.
  • And mix carefully without breaking the bread pieces.
  • Now, cover the pan and let it cook for 2-3 minutes and make the bread absorb the masala.
  • Finally, it’s ready to serve.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  • And, your bread upma is ready to eat.
